What motivates these characters can be found in today’s Times Union. They are looking to oppose Donna in her reelection bid. It is the same duo over and over again trying to undermine her.
I sat in the chambers for that s..t show.
Jimmy Peluso at the end spoke about the credibility and career of the General and his management skills. I went up to the General and thanked him for keeping his composure as he had to deal the BS.
If I could wave a magic wand and see into a possible future - say June of 2028 (by which time Special One’s dream team for mayor and council elections would have occurred and changes made at JEA) I wonder what their end game would have turned out to have been. We’d know their motives, their strategy, who had what incentives and who received what rewards, whether JEA was in line to be sold, and who worked with who to achieve the end game.
Good to see that Nate is on the story. I want to know who exactly the favor was for….was it for Curry, or Tim Baker? What was Carrico’s boss, if he had been confirmed, expected to do at JEA. If the cabal wants a leadership change, then what? Is it all just to influence the next mayoral election? Or is there something more at play?
Kurt Wilson is playing the "victimized white man" card, injured by DEI (as propounded by Ron DeSantis in his recent Jax visit.) I wouldn't be surprised if Wilson hied over to the federal DOJ with his Ballard attorney in tow, trolling for a million-dollar "settlement." Poor guy just couldn't handle having a female superior. Good hair and connections can only carry a guy so far these days.
Diamond waltzed into political office at the Beaches, where he fulsomely curried (no pun intended) the favor of the white male apparatus of the party formerly known as the GOP. He has yet to face a serious election campaign in two outings and no serious MAGA party would entrust him with the nomination for mayor.
Ron Salem could self-finance per Rick Scott, but his pharmacist's gravitas is inappropriate for a MAGA era which rewards outlandish behavior and commentary. He's the odd man out.
Wyman Duggan looks the best connected and did some laudable things in Tallahassee, but he strains credulity when he can take $50K from a gun manufacturer with a burgeoning product-liability scandal and maintain that he is not swayed by their campaign donation -- much.
Jerry Holland is wise to stay put in the elections office. The upcoming Nov. midterms are going to put him and his crack staff under a microscope. The missteps of his two predecessors (John and Mike) won't be tolerated by an aroused electorate nor dubious missives from on high by Cord Byrd (fronting for Ron DeSantis, Jeb! Bush 2.0).
Nick Howland stands to be a kingmaker. One possible gambit for him to clear the field further is to persuade JAG Diamond that duty calls again, this time as an immigration judge. Trump policies resulted in nearly 700,000 deportations last year -- even as Trump keeps firing immigration judges who want to follow the law. Seems like a perfect fit for an outsized ego.
Another would-be kingmaker waits in the wings, unable to keep from pouring calumny into the innocent ears of MAGA faithful: Like a Yellowstone geyser, Lenny Curry will be spouting off regularly.
A modern Laurel & Hardy/Charlie Chaplin movie. Each one bopping the other on the head and running around in baggy pants and Bowlers. So many GOONS!!!! Like whispering adolescents.
If this weren't so blatantly DREADFUL and truly embarrassing for Our Fair City, it could almost make one giggle.
